A large region will be affected by the ice: Quebec will not escape it – MétéoMédia

A huge low pressure zone full of surprises. Forecast.

Huge and complex

In southern Quebec, the cold is gradually easing as the jet stream repositions itself to carve out a corridor toward the province. The winds aloft will thus favor the formation of a very large low pressure complex extending from Texas to north of the American border. With sweet drainage, this low pressure zone will be active most of the week.

SYSTEM1 (2)SYSTEM1 (2)

To Quebec

Starting Wednesday, southern Quebec will feel the effects of this low pressure zone. An excess of snow is expected, but only in the far south of the province. A few centimeters could accumulate near the U.S. border. Then freezing rain is possible from Thursday to Friday. The models do not agree on the quantities that the southern regions would receive.

SYSTEM2 (2)SYSTEM2 (2)

Ice everywhere

Drizzle and freezing rain would accumulate over a large area from Oklahoma to Quebec. This massive depression is already causing problems in the American Midwest. By Friday, conditions could worsen in areas experiencing ice formation. In Quebec, the mercury could exceed freezing on Friday. Precipitation would fall as rain.

SYSTEM3 (2)SYSTEM3 (2)

Another consequence

This low-pressure complex is so huge that it could obscure the sky for several days. In fact, areas of southern Quebec won't see any sunshine until the weekend. Although the models do not predict continued rainfall, the weather will be gloomy and gray for the rest of the week.
