a legendary stone believed to contain a demonic spirit splits in two

New chapter of the legend. In recent days in Japan, some are worried that a stone believed to contain a demonic spirit has split in two.

The story is similar to the beginning of the manga. Last week in Japan, a stone nicknamed the “Stone of Death” (Sessho-seki in Japanese) split in two when, according to legend, it contained the soul of a demonic spirit. The latter would have been shaped like a fox with nine tails.

Also according to the myth, this spirit appeared in the form of a beautiful woman in the 12th century to participate in a conspiracy and kill Emperor Toba. But the warrior Miura-Nosuke would have killed him. Since then, the “stone of death” will continuously spew poisonous gases, threatening to kill anyone who approaches the area located north of Tokyo.

If some observers took this news in a Cartesian way, explaining that water could weaken the structure of the stone over time, then the Japanese, who believe in this legend, are worried that the ancient evil spirit will be resurrected.

Will the stone be restored soon?

“I feel like I saw something I shouldn’t have seen,” a visitor who saw the broken stone tweeted. The post has been liked over 180,000 times on the social network.

The question arises what to do next in this highly touristic place. Indeed, the government and local authorities are wondering how to save this place and what to do with the now broken stone. According to the Shimotsuke Shimbun, relayed by the Guardian, a tourist rep from the Nasu area would like it to be restored.

As for the demonic spirit, it’s hard to know more. “I think the demon will look at what is happening in 2022 and want to return to the rock for another millennium,” the surfer laughs. We can only hope that this is so.
