A lively summer for neighborhood kids – La Nouvelle République des Pyrénées

The association “Les Petits Débrouillards 65” offers free activities for children in the districts of Lourdes throughout the summer.

In the Turon de Gloire district, children and parents had to brave the mosquitoes to take part in the summer activities of the association “Les Petits Débrouillards” in the Hautes-Pyrénées. But the few recordings were worth it, because the children seemed to be carried away by the entertainment on offer. “As part of the resource-rich city, we offer activities in priority districts,” explains Stéphanie Rasquin, social and scientific mediator at the association. 30 years at national level and fifteen years in the department where the association offers free activities for neighborhood children.

The activity that day was based on colors and plant inks. On the table grass, coffee, beets, cabbage. For the kids it was all about realizing what color each ingredient can make when mixed with water, sometimes with a little help from their parents…

The children could even pick flowers or other plants themselves to rub on a leaf and admire the dazzling colors that nature offers. A kind moment also appreciated by parents, like this mother of two boys: “My kids don’t really like summer camp, and then it’s good because it’s free!”

Activities are offered throughout the summer in Lourdes and in the department

Throughout the summer, several activities of this type are offered in the department. They are free and without registration. On August 29, at the end of the summer, a cross-generational workshop on 3D will take place.

“We try to complete the offer with outdoor centers”, reveals Stéphanie Rasquin. Some neighborhoods are more open-minded than others, “but it’s nice to be there, we’ll come back and keep trying,” concludes the host. The team of the association, made up of 6 people, is ready to welcome the children throughout the summer!
