A long mysterious object emerges from the sand

Not all discoveries are created equal. Some have required years of excavation, others are pure coincidence, and still others come from the seabed. But what happened recently is very special: by Sand appeared a mysterious and long object.

The discovery happened in Daytona Beach Shores

We are in Shores of Daytona Beach, a city in the United States of America in Florida, more specifically in Volusia County. And right here a long object of wood and metal emerged from the sand. The residents of the area were the first to discover it due to the low tide.

As explained by county officials who oThe object has not yet been identified. Something very special, also created after the massive erosion caused by Hurricane Nicole, which sadly hit Florida last month, and Hurricane Ian, which hit the state in September.

A discovery that has inevitably aroused the curiosity of the residents, who have formulated various – and sometimes extravagant – theories. For example, some think of it as a barrier, others as an old sunken pier, still others as a grandstand for spectators of past sporting events and much more.

Statements about this discovery

You can read the words in the local newspapers Tammy Malphurs, Deputy Head of Security at Volusia Beach: “We haven’t seen such erosion in a long time. We’re still not sure what it is, but it’s a large piece of debris, probably 25 to 30 meters long.”

As reported by the New York Times, the property is not currently fenced in because it is inundated with water at high tide. “The state underwater archeology team has been advised to investigate further,” he said Kevin HauptmanGovernment Spokesman for Volusia County.

what will happen now

During this week, the archaeologists will examine what has just surfaced, and only after their analysis can we form a picture of what this particular object, hitherto hidden in the sand, really is.

An event that is nothing new to the Florida shores, however, as it is not the first time that old wrecks or treasures have resurfaced from the beach. For example, in 2020, a couple walking on Crescent Beach noticed some beams and bolts that later turned out to be the remains of an ancient ship, possibly the Caroline Eddy, that plied the Atlantic in the 19th century.

However, in 2021, a high school student discovered a rare 1715 gold coin south of Turtle Trail Beach and not long after, a man unearthed a diamond ring worth about $40,000 Saint Augustine.

All that remains is to await the archaeologists’ investigations to find out more, because what happened, as Ms Malphurs, a witness, said: “a mystery. A lot of people even think it’s some kind of old ship.” He then continued, “Every once in a while something pops up and we can usually tell what it is. But this time we just can’t confirm it.” And we add: We hope that the analyzes carried out can provide more information on this strange object just emerged from the sand.
