A look at the history of work on “The Flux Capacitor” and four other suggestions you can see on TV today

“The Fisher King”

7.30 p.m., Movistar Indie

The Fisher King by Terry Gilliam

The Fisher King. USA, 1991 (130 minutes). Director: Terry Gilliam. Cast: Jeff Bridges, Robin Williams, Mercedes Ruehl.

After leaving Monty Python, Terry Gilliam delivered one surprise after another: the monumental “Brazil” and the insane “The Adventures of Baron Munchausen” were followed by this fable that updated nothing less than the myth of the Holy Grail. It's hidden in Manhattan! At least that's what Robin Williams, the history teacher turned vagabond, thinks. Jeff Bridges, a haughty and drunken former radio star, will help him find him. The Fisher King combines misery and illusions into a fantastic drama that is of course as real as life itself.

“The Quintet of Death”

10 p.m., Movistar Classics

The Death Quintet by Alexander Mackendrick

The lady killers. United Kingdom, 1955 (95 minutes). Director: Alexander Mackendrick. Cast: Alec Guinness, Herbert Lom, Peter Sellers, Cecil Parker.

One of the last works of the famous Ealing production company, a huge film that broke all molds with its overwhelming caustic effect and still provides lessons for dozens of comedies of the last decades. The five criminal protagonists are mistaken for musicians by the old lady who takes them in, which leads to a hilarious plot that accumulates successive and elliptical crimes, culminating in an unpredictable outcome. In addition, its actors are Alec Guinness, Peter Sellers and Herbert Lom. Nearly nothing.

The work in “The Flux Capacitor”

10 p.m., La 2

The flux capacitor, exhibited in La 2

In this episode, The Flux Capacitor transforms its setting into a medieval village and reveals what the working scene was like in ancient Egypt, the Roman Empire or the Industrial Revolution. A program dedicated to work in history that will include guests such as Javier Sainz de los Terreros, head of networks at the Prado Museum, a work that combines history, art and technology.

'Matrix'

10 p.m., TCM

The Matrix by Lana and Lilly Wachowski

United States, 1999 (130 minutes). Directors: Lana and Lilly Wachowski. Cast: Keanu Reeves, Laurence Fishburne, Carrie-Anne Moss.

Both idolized and reviled, the Matrix has become an unavoidable cult object. And it is as true that some of its images are fascinating as it is true that it is one of the most pretentious films of the 1990s. However, this brilliant revolution in the digital world does not give the impression of a ready-made spectacle that hides a very traditional plot behind great fanfare.

Third episode of “Between the Lands”

10:45 p.m., antenna 3

Series Entre Tierras, broadcast on Antena 3

The series Entre Tierras, starring Megan Montaner, Unax Ugalde and Juanjo Puigcorbé, traces an emotional drama set in rural Spain in the 1960s. In this week's episode, María takes Nicolás to the doctor to treat his epilepsy and he suggests electric shock treatment for the little boy. When Nicolás finds out about this, he decides to flee into the forest in the middle of a big storm.
