A loss for Monahan's debut with the Jets

Sean Monahan's first game with the Winnipeg Jets was a 3-0 loss to the Penguins on Tuesday night in Pittsburgh.

The center was acquired from the Montreal Canadiens in exchange for a first-round pick in 2024 and a conditional third-round pick in 2027 and played on the second line alongside Cole Perfetti and Nikolaj Ehlers.

Monahan was used for more than 15 minutes. He collected a shot and a check in addition to maintaining a neutral differential.

The success of the “Pens” was due to the bats of Jeff Carter, Kristopher Letang and Bryant Rust.

Before the winning goal, Tristan Jarry saved 23 pucks. It was his sixth shutout of the 2023–24 season, a National Hockey League (NHL) record.

This duel was marked by a fierce hit by Jets defenseman Brenden Dillon on Penguins forward Noel Acciari. The man behind hit his rival directly in the head with his shoulder. The attacker was ejected from the game and it wouldn't be a surprise if he received a call from the NHL's player safety department.
