A man in his 20s was seriously injured by gunfire Thursday evening in Saint-Lambert on Montreal's south shore.
According to initial information from the Longueuil Agglomeration Police Department, the victim was hit by at least one projectile on Mercier Street, near Mercille Avenue, at around 7:30 p.m.

The man suffered “serious injuries to his upper body,” said SPAL spokesman François Boucher. His condition was listed as critical in the middle of the evening.
The police have launched an investigation to clarify the circumstances of this attempted murder. No suspects were immediately arrested.
“It's so surprising, it's a very quiet area here and we've never had an incident like this,” emphasizes Katrina Wishinski, who has lived in this area of Saint-Lambert for more than seven years.
The resident lives less than 50 meters from the parking lot where the man was hit.
The woman was at home when the shots were fired but didn't hear anything.
“My partner barely left 10 minutes before it happened,” she says in disbelief.
“I have not heard anything. It wasn't until I saw all the cars arriving that I knew something had happened,” Ms Wishinski added.
