Man wanted for killing ex Kentucky lawmakers daughter during home invasion

A man who wanted to kill the daughter of a former Kentucky MP during a home invasion has been described as a loner

The man suspected of shooting the sleeping daughter of a former Kentucky lawmaker is a “loner” and a retired military man whose Marine training could help him escape from police, a former mentor told DailyMail.com.

Shannon Vince Guilday, 23, is suspected in the murder of the daughter of former Secretary of State K. Wesley Morgan, 32-year-old Jordan Morgan, in a raid on the home early Tuesday morning at the family’s home for $ 6.5 million in Richmond.

Her shocking murder hit her loved ones hard, with her mother Lisa Foster saying on Wednesday that she too wants her own life to end.

“I ask my Christian friends to pray to God to take me home today,” Foster wrote on Facebook. ‘I want to die.’

A nationwide mandate is under way for the alleged killer, who police say is considered armed and dangerous.

Jayo Alforke, who was Guild’s mentor after joining the Reserve Officers Training Corps (ROTC) in 2017, described the murder suspect as a stranger who had trouble finding friends.

“Like all freshmen, they’re weird in the beginning,” Alfork told DailyMail.com, adding: “He’s fun and he wants to study, he’s always been a loner, so I took him under my wing and showed him how to be social. ‘

He said the skills Gildai had learned during training could help him stay put.

“We were taught to be infantry,” Alfork said. – Camouflage, stealth and tactical.

Guilday can be hot-tempered at times, Alforke said, and was “easily triggered when he couldn’t finish a job or task I gave him when I was a senior cadet.”

Gilday once became so aggressive during a house party that Alfork said he had to “suffocate him to sleep” to keep him under control.

He left Hawaii a few years ago (Alfork believes it was around 2019) due to unpaid drug debts, a friend said.

He dropped out of the program and flew back to Kentucky out of “depression and fear.”

A spokesman confirmed that a man of the same name was a student at the Manoa campus of the University of Hawaii from the spring of 2014 to the summer of 2018, but did not earn a degree.

A year after leaving Hawaii, Gildai turned to his old friend to say he had settled in his home state.

“He said he would get better there and be a better person,” Alforke said. “That was the last time I talked to him.”

Kentucky State Police said Gildai shot and killed Morgan’s daughter, Jordan Morgan, 32, while she was asleep. The Madison County Office later confirmed that Jordan Morgan had been shot “more than once”.

It is alleged that Gildai “collided” with Wesley Morgan and the two exchanged shots before he fled in a white Toyota Corolla.

Wesley Morgan and his wife, Jordan’s stepmother, were injured in the shooting and were taken to a local hospital to recover.

Police have now issued an arrest warrant for Guild as he continues to flee. He is charged with murder, first-degree burglary, first-degree accident and two counts of attempted murder.

As police chase him, Morgan’s friends remain mourning the “passionate” and popular victim.

“Her mother, Lisa, is not doing well at all,” said a friend. “as everyone can imagine”

“Jordan was very passionate about her family, animals and politics,” her friend Amanda Markham told DailyMail.com. “Not only was she so beautiful on the outside, but she was just as sweet and generous on the inside.”

A successful lawyer, Morgan was working on obtaining her real estate license so she could work with her real estate mother Lisa Foster and stepfather Don Foster, her friend said.

“This senseless crime will shake our small town for many years to come,” Markham said, adding: “Her mother Lisa is not doing as well as anyone can imagine.”

Foster said her daughter had no “enemies” as police identified the man suspected of killing her.

“She was an absolutely wonderful person and the smartest person I’ve ever known,” Foster told the Lexington Herald-Leader. “She’s always made it for other people, so selfless, fun and like a breath of fresh air to be around.”

“She was my mother’s girl and she always told me every night and every morning that she loved me. She had no enemies. ‘

Authorities said Thursday they had some evidence of a possible motive behind the shooting, the Lexington Herald-Leader said, but could not confirm anything until the suspects were arrested.

However, they said they did not believe Jordan was the intended target, according to Lex 18, as the preliminary investigation had not established links between her and Gildai.

Kentucky state police said earlier that they received a call at 4:30 a.m. Tuesday for a shooting at Morgan’s mansion.

At first, they weren’t sure how many suspects were involved in the house raid and the shooting, but after receiving an “incredible tip” outside the affluent area, authorities now say Taylor Mill’s guild in Kentucky forcibly broke into the mansion and opened fire.

He was seen in CCTV footage entering the home wearing camouflage or tactical pants and a jacket, a dark hood, gloves and a light face mask, authorities said at a briefing on Thursday.

They said he may have been injured in the shootout with Wesley, authorities said Thursday, and is believed to be driving a white Toyota Corolla with minor damage to the front grille.

Guild is described as about six feet and about 167 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes.

He is considered “armed and dangerous,” the Kentucky State Police warned, urging anyone to call the Kentucky State Police Department on 7 (859) 623-2444.

Wesley said he is now recovering from his wounds, but will never recover from the loss of his eldest daughter

On Wednesday, Wesley, 71, cried as he talked about losing his daughter.

He told FOX 56 that he is recovering well from the gunshot wounds, but will never recover emotionally from the loss of Jordan.

“My heart is broken,” he said as he began to cry. “I can’t understand why I would give everything to this Earth if it was me and not her.

“I’d rather be me.”

Wesley Morgan said he was with his daughter watching an episode of 1883, a Western-style television drama series on Paramount +, just hours before the shooting.

“She got up, hugged me, and said, ‘I love you, Dad,’ and I said, ‘I love you, too,'” he recalled in front of the news station. “And then she went to bed and that son of a bitch killed her.”

He added that his “life will never be the same”, saying: “Until the day I die, I will think about her, yes, I will.”

Meanwhile, Jordan’s mother said she had no enemies.

“She was an absolutely wonderful person and the smartest person I’ve ever known,” Lisa Foster told the Herald-Leader on Thursday.

“She always made for other people, so selfless, fun and like a breath of fresh air to be around.

“She was my mother’s girl and she always told me every night and every morning that she loved me,” Foster added. “She had no enemies.”

Foster said Jordan would text her every night, saying “I love you night, night,” and in the morning she would send her mother a message reading “Good morning, muffin mouse, I love you,” referring to one of her favorites. her childhood stories.

“And I would say” Good morning, sun, I love you, I have a blessed day. ‘

Jordan Morgan was earlier in the headlines in 2017 when he publicly accused Republican Michael Meredith of sending her inappropriate text messages as part of a sexual harassment deal involving four Republicans in the House of Representatives.

She said then that she began receiving a number of messages from Meredith after working on the successful Republican campaign of Matt Bevin in 2015 for the governor of Kentucky and working with him for a year and a half after that as a member of his communications team.

Morgan met with Meredith, she told the Courier Journal as she and other members of Bevin’s campaign staff celebrated his victory.

She said Meredith’s behavior was “a little too friendly”, so she left the event. But then he sent her a message on Facebook saying, “Where did you go, beautiful?”

Over the next year and a half, she said, she received a number of messages from Meredith, including one that read, “You’re a meter and a half tall with black hair and high heels, and you can probably find a way to convince someone of anything.” if strength is needed, lol. ‘

None of the text messages were “too extreme,” she said; they were “just kind of flirtatious,” but they seemed “inappropriate,” especially since Meredith was married and elected.

“He was not my boss, but he was in an authoritative position,” she said. “You don’t want to be an enemy of a government official, so just laugh.”

Morgan said she came up with the inappropriate texts only after it was revealed that four Republicans in the House of Representatives were involved in a secret agreement on sexual harassment with another employee.

The scandal cost former House Speaker Jeff Hoover and Meredith the lead, but a year later Meredith was reinstated as chair of the House Committee on Local Government.

Jordan, meanwhile, has left the world of politics to become an assistant attorney for the Boone County-based community crime prosecution. She recently joined Reminger Law Firm in Lexington.

“Reminger wants to express its sincere condolences to Morgan’s family,” the company said in a statement. “She was a nice colleague and a promising lawyer. We are shocked and saddened by the circumstances surrounding her unfortunate death. ‘

Her Facebook account was full of memes, photos of her with friends and family, and photos of her little dog, Gucci.

Friends and family described her as kind, loving and intelligent, and her niece Hailey Burrows, who was only 11 years younger than Jordan, saying: “She was so great. Generous, selfless, funny, so funny, [and] loving.

“She’s the queen of nets,” Burroughs told Lex 18. “If I ever had to know anyone, she knew someone who could connect me.”

Burroughs said she has decided to follow in Jordan’s footsteps, pursuing a law degree from the University of Kentucky, and plans to take the LSAT this summer.

“She always urged me to do my best,” Burroughs said of his aunt, whom she described as “rather a best friend.”

She said she was upset that her aunt would not be around to meet any of her future boyfriends or attend her wedding, but she firmly believes she is in a better place and is happy. So that helps me get through this. ‘

Wesley, who served one U.S. state for Richmond and Berea in Madison County, is also known for his quirks.

While in the office, Wesley, who owns several liquor stores in Kentucky, was accused of smuggling alcohol across the county.

At the time, doing so without a carrier’s license was illegal.

A judge eventually dropped the charges after the state law was changed.

He continued to unsuccessfully challenge Senator Mitch McConnell in the 2020 Republican primary.

Last year, Wesley announced its 14,300-square-foot mansion, six bedrooms and seven bathrooms for sale.

Comes complete with a saltwater pool, steam sauna and heated floors on a 200-acre lakeside property.

However, perhaps its most unusual feature is the 2,000-square-foot, fully loaded underground bunker, located behind a huge steel and concrete door.

The $ 6.5 million ad advertises the home as capable of withstanding a nuclear attack and the strongest earthquake, with the bunker alone valued at $ 3 million.

Wesley began building the bunker more than a decade ago, after the election of President Barack Obama.

He said then that “he can see the handwriting on the wall that Obama is trying to turn our country into a socialist country” and with hundreds of tons of chemical agents stored at the Blue Grass Army depot south of Richmond, he decided it would be wise to build a bunker.

“I saw the bad things happening in the world,” he told Kentucky.com last year. “And I think a lot of bad things are happening in the world right now.

“If we don’t get together, we will end up in a civil war.”

He said he and his wife Lindsay lived in the bunker – which can hold up to 30 people with separate bedrooms, kitchen and living room – for several years until the construction of the house above was completed.

Zillow describes the home as “the safest home on the market in this country” and offers an “escape tunnel” to an undiscovered location.

“I just wanted somewhere safe,” Wesley said when the house was on the market.
