The Massachusetts mother accused of strangling her three children to death with exercise bands while suffering from postpartum psychosis was reportedly researching killing methods.
Lindsay Clancy, 32, was indicted by a Plymouth grand jury in mid-September on three counts of murder and strangulation.
Clancy is alleged to have attacked and killed her three children, Cora, 5, Dawson, 3, and 8-month-old Callan on January 24 at the family home in Duxbury.
The mother, a labor and delivery nurse, then attempted suicide and remained in the hospital.
The unsealed affidavit, obtained by , says investigators obtained a search warrant for her electronic devices, which Clancy used to journal about her mental health and her feelings toward children, but also “for opportunities to kill.” was looking for”.

The unsealed affidavit – obtained by – reveals that investigators obtained a search warrant for her electronic devices, which Clancy used to “look for opportunities to kill.”
No specific search terms or phrases were disclosed, nor did the documents provide further details about how they found the information.
The affidavits also state that Clancy injured herself with “a large kitchen knife covered in blood” before jumping out a window of her home.
Clancy was suffering from severe postpartum depression and had been prescribed an “over-the-top” cocktail of pills, which her indulgent husband Patrick Clancy believes was responsible for the tragedy.
On Jan. 25, investigators took bottles of diazepam, amitriptyline and trazodone, all antidepressants, from Clancy’s home. All three had been prescribed to her within the last 16 days.
It is also revealed that Clancy’s husband Patrick was in the basement when police arrived to check on Lindsay and knew “something was wrong because his kids weren’t waking up.”
He walked toward the police and began screaming, “She killed the children!” When he made the discoveries, he found two of his children with a ribbon around their necks, their faces turning “blue and purple.”
Authorities conducted an extensive search of the home, examining the cameras, receipts, a CVS bag containing a child’s laxative that Lindsay Patrick had offered for sale, the murder weapons, the knife and several notebooks.
The books contained a more comprehensive list of the medications Lindsay was prescribed: Zoloft, Valium, Trazodone, Ativan, Klonopin, Prozac and Seroquel. It didn’t seem like she was given all of this at the same time.

According to the Boston Herald, Clancy is scheduled to be arraigned in District Court on Thursday.
Postpartum psychosis is defined by the National Institutes of Health as the most severe form of mental illness in this category and is characterized by extreme confusion, loss of touch with reality, paranoia, delusions, disorganized thought processes, and hallucinations.
It usually occurs within the first six weeks after birth and “requires immediate medical and psychiatric treatment, as well as hospitalization if there is a risk of suicide or infanticide.”
Clancy’s attorney, Kevin J. Reddington, previously told a judge that the medication she was prescribed made her feel like a “zombie.”

Clancy suffered cuts to her wrists and lacerations believed to have been self-inflicted before jumping from a window of her home.

Patrick found his wife lying outside their home after returning from a takeaway meal for the family.
As first responders arrived on scene and tended to his wife, Patrick could be heard screaming in the basement of the home.
There he found the children unconscious and blue, with exercise bands around their necks.
The state’s chief medical examiner would declare that the two older children died of asphyxia, while little Callan died as a result of asphyxia.
Clancy was arraigned Feb. 7 from her bed at Brigham and Women’s Hospital.
“One of the major problems here is the terrible overmedication with medications that has caused homicidal thoughts and suicidal thoughts,” Reddington said in February.
‘She [Lindsay and her husband Patrick] repeatedly went to doctors and said, “Please help us.”
“This turned her into a zombie… the medication she was prescribed was excessive, absolutely excessive.”

“The real Lindsay was generous, loving and caring to everyone – me, our children, family, friends and her patients,” Patrick said of his wife

“She received regular medical care and treatment. And her husband was very proactive in trying to protect her and help her with the medications that the doctors had prescribed for her.
“They went through hell – and didn’t come back,” he said.
He intends to use this as a defense against murder charges. Patrick, her husband, says he has forgiven her.
In a GoFundMe message to friends and strangers who have raised $1 million for him, he said: “I want to ask all of you to find the strength deep within yourself to forgive Lindsay, like I did .”
