A woman who had repeatedly turned down romantic advances from her colleague was shot dead by the man outside of work, police said.
Nicole Hammond, 28, was shot in the neck with a handgun by colleague Jordan Carpenter on October 24, police said. The incident happened around 7 a.m. in the Dubow Textile parking lot in St. Cloud, Minnesota.
Shortly thereafter, police arrived and found the body of the 28-year-old “lying in the parking lot with a gunshot wound.” Police said they tried to take life-saving measures on Ms Hammond but she died at the scene.
Jordan Carpenter, 36, had already fled the scene. However, police found Carpenter nearly three hours later at a home in Sauk Rapids.

Carpenter was then taken into custody to be questioned by police and arrested for second-degree murder.
The alleged killer did not admit to gunning down Ms Hammond, according to a probable cause statement obtained by the Kansas City Star. However, he said he was walking toward Ms Hammond’s car when the gun went off.
Carpenter told police he ran away because he was “too traumatized” after seeing Ms Hammond’s body.
Police said Carpenter “did not render any assistance, did not go to work, nor did he call 9-1-1.”
Ms. Hammond had repeatedly told Carpenter that she was not interested in a romantic relationship with him.

The St. Cloud Police Department media release states that Jordan Carpenter has been arrested and taken to the Benton County Jail where he is being held on a homicide charge
A statement of probable cause showed that Ms Hammond had rejected Carpenter’s advances via text message the night before. Ms. Carpenter told him that “she did not want to be touched or manipulated by him” and asked him “not to make things awkward at work,” the police statement said. She had “repeatedly” turned down his advances over the past month.
Police also said they found a text from Ms Hammond telling a friend that Carpenter was mad at her.
Ms Hammond’s associates told the Kansas City Star that Carpenter had repeatedly harassed her and was “in a bad mood.”
However, Dubow Textile CEO Rob Dubow told Fox it was never reported to management.
Mr Dubow told Fox: “Unfortunately, we had no idea. Anytime anything requires our intervention, we intervene. But in this case we had no indication that anything was wrong.”
