A mother finds part of her son thanks to organ donation

A mother grieving the loss of her son who isn’t very fond of organ donation has some comfort today: the Blainville resident just found an Estriene who had a kidney from her boy after a transplant.

With National Organ Donor Awareness Week just days away, she says her life has changed.

“I love her like she’s my daughter. It’s like I have a child far away and we text and talk to each other.

In 2018, Martha found her son Steve Cimon unresponsive in her home. It was a stroke that knocked him out.

At the hospital, where he was pronounced dead, the mother discovered that her son had signed his organ donor card, a decision she struggled to respect.

This small gesture by Steve Cimon enabled him to donate his lungs, kidneys, corneas and tissues.

His mother quickly tried to find out who the beneficiaries were. As Transplant Quebec wants, only one person has sent him letters anonymously for four years.

With the help of her daughters, she was able to identify a lady living in Estrie who told her story in a local newspaper. They spoke on the phone.

Ms Conway, who worked with her husband at Cirque du Soleil for nine years, is said to be back at work soon. At the end of the week they should finally meet for the first time.

“Your son is truly a hero to me and I hope that comforts you. I am truly grateful for the gift that his son and all his family have given.
