The gist: In the United States in April 2022, the body of a 5-year-old child was found in a suitcase in the middle of the forest. His mother, accused of murder, is on the run and her accomplice has just been convicted.
An American woman from Louisiana was sentenced to 30 years in prison for the murder of a five-year-old child. The circumstances surrounding the discovery of this death are unexpected to say the least, as the young victim’s body was found in a suitcase by a mushroom picker in an Indiana forest in April 2022, according to CBS News.
According to our colleagues, the convicted person is actually the accomplice of the child’s mother, who is also on the run and is also accused of murder. The two women lived together. An autopsy revealed that the victim had died of dehydration about a week before the body was discovered.
The mother did not report the disappearance
The little boy’s mother quickly became a suspect because she did not report his disappearance, which compromised the investigation. The suspect is also charged with “obstruction of justice” and “neglect of a dependent” and remains wanted.
The convicted accomplice assured that the child was already dead when he entered his room. But she apparently agreed when the child’s mother asked her to put the body in a garbage bag and then a suitcase before leaving it in the woods.
