Australian authorities are investigating a mysterious 2.5-metre-tall cylindrical object that washed up on a beach in Perth, Australia on Sunday and may have come from an “alien space rocket”.
“We want to reassure the community that we are actively engaged in working with various state and federal agencies to determine the origin and nature of the object,” Western law enforcement officials in Australia said in a statement reported by the BBC on Monday .
On Sunday, local citizens widened their eyes when they saw the large copper-colored cylindrical object covered in barnacles – sea crustaceans – washed up on Australia’s Green Head Beach, Global News also reported.

The object could be from an alien launch vehicle and we are in contact with colleagues around the world who may be able to provide more information.

The object, which has yet to be identified, could nonetheless “come from a foreign launch vehicle,” the Australian Space Agency said on Twitter on Monday, saying it was “in contact with global partners who may be able to provide more information.”
According to aviation expert Geoffrey Thomas, the part could be a detachable part, possibly a fuel tank, of an Indian space rocket launched in the past 12 months, the BBC reported.
Although it was stated that “the object is safe and there is no current danger to the community”, viewers were asked to keep their distance while a perimeter was reportedly put in place around the cylinder until it has been identified and returned to its owner.
