A new path will see the light of day in the Parulines de St-Jean-sur-Richelieu Natural Park – Noovo Info

The work, carried out by the Mont-Saint-Hilaire Nature Conservation Center, is scheduled to begin this Wednesday, June 28, and will extend over a period of three weeks.

They are intended to connect the future Park La Canadienne to the Sugarbush Trail, which runs through the wooded part of the site.

With a length of 250 meters and a width of 1.8 meters, the planned route of this new trail represents a winding route that avoids wetlands and traverses more open areas.

In order to ensure the safety of future hikers, however, felling work on dead trees must be planned. In return for this activity, the city undertakes to carry out a plantation in a sector where it will prove beneficial.

Covering an area of 26 hectares, the Parulines Natural Park currently has 2.9 kilometers of hiking trails. There are forest areas, a wasteland, wetlands, a stream and a pond. It enjoys the status of a nature reserve.

Please note that work to expand the main car park, which started in October 2022, will continue this summer.

They will lead to the partial closure of the new part from July 3rd to 7th and from August 7th to 25th. The addition of reclaimed ash picnic tables is also planned for July.
