A New York journalist sees him as GM of the Islanders

Patrick Roy's stay on Long Island is not without its pitfalls. His team has never gotten off track, but let's be honest: it's taking him a lot longer to get the team under control.

The Islanders are seven points out of the playoffs and we're already thinking about the future. And that future, Patrick Roy, seems to be a part of it, and for a long time.

What's strange, however, is that the possibility was raised today that Roy could become general manager in the near future.

During a podcast, NHL.com journalist Stefan Rosner, assigned to cover the Islanders, raised the possibility that Roy would eventually replace Lou Lamoriello, who, remember, is 81 years old.

The journalist went even further and spoke of Benoît Desrosiers as Roy's successor in the dugout.

This possibility is far from unreasonable since Roy has experience as a general manager. If the plan is to put him in charge of the team, Roy will want a man who has the same philosophy as him. In this case, Desrosiers becomes the ideal man.

Speaking of the future, the Islanders may need to move on from Jean-Gabriel Pageau to improve the team's salary situation.

As Lamoriello mentioned in a press conference last week, the team no longer has cap flexibility and will have to make difficult decisions.

New York Post journalist Ethan Sears mentioned the surplus of centers and when we look at the various contracts, Pageau's name makes sense, even though his contract ends in 2026.

– Great performance from Dobes.

– Lots of hope for the youngster acquired from the Flames.
