Bizarre moment New York Mets fan falls 12 feet over the railing and onto the field in the middle of Sunday’s game against the Giants… but escapes injury and returns to his seat!

The New York Mets game against the Giants at Citi Field was temporarily suspended Sunday night when a fan strangely fell over the railing onto the field.

It was the end of the fifth quarter when play had to be stopped. The moment the fan fell, presumably accidentally, was not caught in the broadcast, but cameras quickly showed the man standing against the wall and holding his face.

As security ran towards him, he held up his hands to signal that he was not an intruder or anyone intent on causing a disturbance and appeared to have been injured from a fall and a facial injury from about 12 feet.

A video soon surfaced on Twitter showing the fan on the floor, looking slightly dazed.

You can hear other fans shouting if he’s alright and laughing almost in disbelief as they say, “The game is still going on!”.

The man appeared to have asked fans to throw away napkins so he could hold them to his bloody nose.

“This is not a joke,” David Cone said on the show. “Hope he’s okay.”

He clutched his face but appeared unharmed – by the end of the sixth segment, cameras spotted him again in the crowd and he showed no signs of cuts or bruises.

Luckily for him, he also wore a hat and sunglasses he’d picked up from the field to hide his face.

But he still had a great story to tell the fans he was sitting with as he returned to his seat for the remainder of the game.

It all seemed like a real accident. And luckily for him there was no injury – the Mets won 8-4 and clinched their first win in the MLB series in a month.

The Mets were leading 5-1 at the time, with Francisco Alvarez in the lead.
