The desire to have a character in the gaming world dates back to 2020 when Anitta signed a lifetime deal on Facebook Gaming during the pandemic. At the same time she began to get in touch with Free Fire. This was followed shortly afterwards by the recording of Modo Turbo, a clip with LuĂsa Sonza and Pabllo Vittar that explored the gamer aesthetic. “My idea was to start a character with my clothes,” reveals Anitta.

In contact with Garena, the company that owns Free Fire, the opportunity arose to put the singer’s will into action and from this came the character A Patroa a name chosen by the developer himself in addition to the items and music in the Game . Anitta developed the clothes together with her stylist, who creates her carnival costumes. “We created these two Anittas, one more imaginative, more playful, and the other for the real world, with shorts and a coat,” he explains.

The song, another highlight of the partnership, received lyrics and a music video designed specifically for Free Fire players. “I think I borrowed my voice, period, because every word, everything, even the sound effects are from the game,” jokes Anitta. For the creation of the song, the singer enlisted the help of friends who are game players, such as athlete Bruno “Nobru” Goes from Fluxo, to incorporate slang and expressions from battle royale gameplay. “I think it’s cool when the players have a song that says exactly what they’re doing there,” he explains.

For the great production clip, the idea was to place A Patroa in typical Free Fire missions, including characters Kelly, Moco, and Shani in her squad. “I wanted everyone watching the clip to feel like they were only seeing the game in the real world,” explains the singer. “It needed a lot of special effects, a lot of scenography and that doesn’t come cheap”.

Releasing content for a game was one of the many firsts in Anitta’s career. For them there was a relationship of trust between Garena and his team in order to combine the different knowledge. “On the one hand, they had the expertise of the gamer world and we knew better how to release a clip, a song, a schedule, etc. This exchange was a lot of fun,” reveals the singer.

Some think that the action is intended to bring Anitta closer to the gamer audience, but for the artist it already happened in 2020. Now the goal is to fulfill a demand that audiences have already been asking about: their character in a game. And the campaigns are still in their infancy. The singer revealed that she will be playing with her own skin on the stream and isn’t giving up on the idea of a show within the game itself.

The partnership also reached the esports portion of Free Fire with the creation of the Patroa Cup, a women’s ingame competition with a prize pool of BRL 10,000. The goal is to encourage more presence and respect for women in online games, the singer said. “There is always a lot of prejudice against the presence of women in spaces that someone has defined as men, be it in football or online games. There is nothing better than giving women the relevance and space they deserve,” says Anitta.

Anitta’s Free Fire event is now live and will run until July 11th. From this Saturday (2) it will be possible to save A Patroa with two versions of skins, in addition to items such as weapons, accessories and music in the lobby. Players who log in that day can redeem the doll for free, but a challenge has been running since June 23 where you can collect tokens and exchange them for the skin. The player must be aware of the information in the game to enjoy all the actions.
