The accident occurred around 6:20 p.m. on the corner of Charest Boulevard and Caron Street, says Pierre-Olivier Lévesque, spokesman for the SPVQ.
Only a white vehicle was involved. The driver was traveling west on Charest Boulevard when he collided with the 84-year-old pedestrian.
According to our information, the man suffered head trauma. He was unconscious when he was taken to hospital in an unstable condition. “The pedestrian suffered head injuries,” confirms Mr. Lévesque.
The driver of the car was uninjured, but had to be taken to hospital for treatment for nervous shock.
The cause of the accident has not yet been clarified. “Based on the elements collected so far, the random theory would be the most likely. However, the investigation is ongoing,” says the spokesman.
The Forensic Identification Service was on site. Traffic was closed on part of Charest Boulevard for part of the evening. She was rescued around 10:30 p.m.
