A Place in the Sun: The most expensive properties ever sold on the Channel 4 show, including luxury California properties worth almost £14 million

Channel 4's A Place In Sun has helped Brits buy hundreds of properties in its more than two decades of existence.

However, there were a number of properties that were out of budget for potential buyers.

Longtime host Jasmine Harman recalled that the most expensive property she had ever seen was an LA mansion worth almost £14 million.

Jasmine has hosted the show since 2000 and searches the world for couples' dream home.

Here are some of the most expensive homes featured on A Place In The Sun.

Los Angeles, USA – £13.5 million

When it came to the most expensive house she had ever seen, Jasmine thought of a property in Los Angeles that had a rather unusual feature.

Speaking to The Express, the presenter said: “I pitched a luxury property in California that cost $17 million.”

“In the basement was a complete replica of the main street of the owner’s hometown.”

On the other hand, Jasmine told S Magazine about her most frugal purchase: “I think my lowest budget ever was £19,500.” That was in Granada, Spain.

“Our buyer was a lovely lady called Tina who worked as a rubbish collector and never thought she would be able to buy a property.

“She used her savings and I think the house she bought in 2015 cost £14,500. It’s just amazing to think that this is even possible.”

In a 2021 episode of the series, Jasmine was on the Greek island of Crete and was shown around the incredible mountain estate.

Despite helping house hunters Catherine and Patrick find the property of their dreams on a budget of £150,000, Jasmine was able to look around the stunning villa.

The property's owner, Mary, showed them around the mountain property, which overlooked a canopy of trees and offered stunning views of the beaches and ocean.

The property also featured a private infinity pool, beautifully manicured luxury gardens and a covered patio area.

The £4million property completely won Jasmine over as she sighed as the couple walked back to the infinity pool and said: “I bet you'll never get tired of this view.”

The 19th-century house featured unusual conical roofs, private bathrooms and an outdoor pool.

Danni raved about the “simple and minimalist” decor, but viewers were less impressed with the home's layout.

Regarding the location of the bathroom, they wrote: “Great, very convenient if you want to watch your partner defecate through an icy window while you try to fall asleep.”

Although million-pound houses are not a common sight on the show, there was a spin-off show in A Place In The Sun where they were commonplace.

From 2007 to 2009, A Million Pound Place in the Sun helped potential buyers find luxury properties and explored some of the most desirable locations in the European market.

One of the many people Jasmine hosted A Place In The Sun with was Jonnie Irwin, also known for Escape To The Country.

Jonnie died in February aged 50 after a three-and-a-half year battle with terminal lung cancer.
