A police officer in A Coruna shoots the man who

According to the police version collected by Europa Press and Efe, this Monday in A Coruña, a 35-year-old man died as a result of a shot fired by a National Police officer to prevent the deceased from hitting him with an iron bar. The incident occurred this morning at around ten o'clock in the A Grela industrial area, where a National Police patrol went after receiving news from several passers-by that an extremely violent man was breaking the windows of some vehicles with a blunt object.

According to various police sources, the police asked the man, who was “very aggressive” at all times, to stop his behavior, but he refused. The agents initially attempted to subdue him with an electric pistol, but the large amount of clothing the perpetrator was wearing made the attempt to knock him out with a discharge useless. During the confrontation, the individual knocked down an agent. Once on the ground, the police officer fired his service weapon when he saw the person lunge at him, apparently intending to hit him with the pole he was carrying. The shot caused the attacker's death. Unified Police Union (SUP) sources have assured that the deceased had “numerous police files”. The latest, allegedly on Friday, was for an attempted attack on an agent.

Stabbed at dawn

It is the second violent death in the Galician city in just over 24 hours. In the early hours of Sunday, a 22-year-old young man died of a stab wound to the chest that affected his heart during a fight in the center of the city, at the intersection of Juan Flórez and Sinfónica de streets, Galicia. Investigators analyzing the images captured by the surveillance cameras of nearby establishments point to the main hypothesis that the death was a fight for reasons still unknown between a few people, possibly only the perpetrator and the victim. On Sunday, police searched for the weapon in dumpsters near the crime scene.
