The Buffalo Sabers suffered a tough loss on Tuesday night when forward Tage Thompson was sidelined against the Boston Bruins.
The 1.90 meter tall colossus was shot with one hand in the middle of the second period and had to leave the game. After the game, head coach Don Granato admitted that Thompson may have to be sidelined for a “significant amount of time.”
The star player was not spared in this 5-2 defeat as he sustained another injury early in the game. Thompson barely left the ice after Charlie McAvoy tripped him. After banishing the pain, he returned to the ice. Granato confirmed that he suffered a cut.
“He got over the first injury. He couldn’t fight the second one,” the Sabers pilot expressed his regret, according to The Buffalo News.
The Bruins won the game by a score of 5 to 2. Thompson didn’t black out the scorecard, he has 12 points in 16 games this season.
