A price increase that upsets skiers –

Like gas and food, skiing will cost more next year for Quebec fans of the sport.

And many of them are not afraid to express their anger at this price increase without feeling they are getting their money’s worth.

For example, a season pass for the Massif de Charlevoix increases by almost $2000.

“In my opinion it’s overdone, I think. I’ve been a member here for a few years. Then I saw a lot of friends of mine that I skied here with, well they moved somewhere else. The massif had managed to attract people in recent years and there you can see it a little the other way around, I have the impression with this increase,” a skier told TVA Nouvelles.

Ski enthusiasts have to pay more for a season pass, almost 5% more for some adults and 11% for children.

“It’s expensive. It’s done, with everything else, say, eat more, you have to make lunch,” claims one skier.

For an adult who wants unlimited access to the mountain, the massif is the most expensive. Mont-Sainte-Anne is close behind. The prices for the coming season have not yet been published, they are those of 2022-2023. Finally, Whistler, this internationally renowned mountain, is the most affordable.

“Listen, of course we expect that the mountain will give us more if we pay more,” says a customer from the Charlevoix massif.

The Massif’s organization claims its prices remain competitive compared to similar-sized resorts in Quebec. The increase in subscription costs takes into account several factors, including inflation and upgrades in certain price categories that have not yet been adjusted.
