A proud Montrealer even more proud

A proud Montrealer, even more “proud”

When Pierre Karl Péladeau bought the Montreal Alouettes last March, he said it was the gesture of a “proud Montrealer.”

“I’m even prouder,” the Als owner said Wednesday as he celebrated his team’s win in the Gray Cup.

“I think it’s so gratifying to see that all the players on the team are proud to win for Montreal,” he added. If they win for Montreal, they win for Quebec.”

Mr Péladeau had absolutely no expectation that his club would win a championship in its first season. He also wanted to highlight the work of general manager Danny Maciocia.

“Danny’s year started with adversity. He stayed straight.”

Remember, the GM didn’t have an owner when the free agent market opened last winter. He did everything he could to prevent the collapse of the organization.

“After the announcement [de l’achat du club], he was able to concentrate on what he does best, namely football. The result is there to prove it. He did a fantastic job,” emphasized Mr. Péladeau.
