Quebec right winger Alexandre Doucet won over a National Hockey League team when the Detroit Red Wings signed him to a three-year contract on Wednesday.

The 21-year-old skater was never drafted into the Bettman Circuit. After playing for the Val-d’Or Foreurs and the Halifax Mooseheads this season, he leads the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League this season with 45 goals. He added 44 assists for 89 points, the fourth-highest total in the league.
The Sherbrooke native, Doucet sailed to at least a point in a 14-game streak between December 11 and January 21. In his career in the QMJHL, he had 221 points, including 95 goals. At the Midget AAA level, he led the Cantonniers de Magog to the 2019 title with 23 points in 15 playoff games.
