A 27-year-old Quebec man died in a snowmobile accident near Revelstoke, British Columbia.
The accident is believed to have occurred on Mount Boulder near Revelstoke.
The RCMP confirmed the accident occurred at this location on Saturday, December 2nd. Local authorities were informed of the young man’s disappearance at around 5:40 p.m.
The victim, Samuel Babin, is originally from Quebec. He is said to have attended the L’Ancienne-Lorette high school about ten years ago.
In danger
Shortly before the tragedy, RCMP said he was snowmobiling with a group when he became separated.
He reportedly attempted to communicate his position to his group via radio, but apparently did not have GPS or satellite communications.
Revelstoke search and rescue services were deployed but Samuel Babin was in “significant medical distress in a remote and steep area”, according to industry media The Nelson Daily.
His condition subsequently deteriorated and he succumbed to his injuries, an RCMP news release said.
His mother did not respond to our request, but according to her, her son had gone to the west of the country in particular to pursue his extraordinary passion for snowmobiling. He should return next spring.
A passion
Most of his photos show him having fun in the snow with his machine.
“Go with what you love most in the world,” testified one of his relatives.
Some friends, shocked, declined to reveal details. “He’s a good friend, but I’d rather let his family talk,” one of them replied politely. Another friend gave the same answer.
