A Quebecer impresses Henrik Lundqvist

The work of Junior Team Canada (JT) goaltender Mathis Rousseau did not go unnoticed on Friday in Gothenburg, Sweden.

During a sideways move in the first period, Rousseau took the opportunity to submit his candidacy for the best save of the 2024 edition of the World Junior Ice Hockey Championships.

The 19-year-old goaltender frustrated Liam Öhgren, who was alone in the slot, by extending the ball of his right to parry with the tip of his skate.

Henrik Lundqvist was an attentive spectator. “King Henrik” did not hide his surprise from the television cameras that captured his reaction.

Despite Rousseau's efforts, Canada lost 2-0. The Maple Leaf will return to action on Sunday against the Germans to close out the preliminary round.
