On Saturday it rained almost across the entire province, breaking an old record that will continue on Sunday. Forecast.

Since the beginning of the weekend, clouds and rain have dominated the sky over the province of La Belle. A low pressure area moved in from the west and began dumping precipitation on Friday night. As of Saturday morning, the rain spread to several other regions of Quebec.

RAIN 1 – Rain on Saturday

A rain record was broken

The strip stretching from Centre-du-Québec via Mauricie to Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean was the hardest hit in terms of rain. The municipality of Sainte-Clotilde-de-Horton won the jackpot with almost 80 mm in just 24 hours. On the southwest side, sectors fared slightly better, with 15mm of rain in Montreal and just 6mm in Gatineau.

RAIN 3 – Record daily rain

October 21, 2023 made history for the town of Roberval, Saguenay Lac-Saint-Jean. The city set a new daily rainfall record in October with 50.8 mm. The old mark is from October 18, 1967, when 45 mm fell on that day.

And it continues on Sunday

Sunday will be very similar to Saturday. The rain will continue into the late evening hours and is expected to mainly affect the same areas as the previous day. Another 40 mm could fall in Beauce, Centre-du-Québec, Mauricie and Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean.

Montreal should stay away from the most exposed areas but could still receive 25mm by the end of the weekend.

RAIN – Rain forecast for Sunday

A few flakes at night

From Sunday evening into Monday morning, several areas, from the Laurentians to Abitibi, could get a few snowflakes. However, this is not well-organized snow, so accumulation is not expected. In general, the remaining precipitation should dissipate early Monday and produce good weather despite the very cool conditions.
