The Laval police are investigating a suspicious fire that destroyed a restaurant in a residential area of Chomedey for the second time on the night of Tuesday to Wednesday.
The Laval Police Department (SPL) was alerted around 2 a.m. to a fire alarm at the Al Sultan restaurant in a commercial building on Curé-Labelle Boulevard.
If firefighters from the Laval Fire Department manage to bring the fire, which has not yet been completely extinguished, under control, the damage to the building, especially to the restaurant, would be significant.
The investigation has been transferred to the SPL, which will send its investigators to analyze the scene and attempt to determine the circumstances of this fire, said spokeswoman Erika Landry.

Curé-Labelle Boulevard has been closed in both directions, between the Lachapelle Bridge in the north and Lévesque Boulevard in the west towards Montreal, which will undoubtedly have an impact on road traffic, especially during the morning rush hour.
It is not the first time that the Al Sultan restaurant has been the target of an arson attack, as last September a Molotov cocktail thrown into its premises caused a fire and caused extensive damage to the building.
