The Saint-Philippe Retirement Residence (RPA) purchased a robotic cat last Saturday to meet the needs caused by the lack of staff in its catering team.

It’s a $20,000 purchase that the residence hall staff already considers an investment rather than an expense.
“I used it, I set up three tables at once and it saved me so many steps and time,” says a waitress. “I loved!”

The robot cat, with its 16 plate capacity, is not only used to serve dishes, it is also used to return dirty dishes to the dishwasher.

The general director, Johanne Nadeau, wants to clarify in an interview on LCN that she did not buy a robot to cut jobs.
“I come back from engineering to help you and make sure my on-site team is less tired after a shift,” she explains.

In addition to filling the gaps created by labor shortages, the robot cat has also been adopted by customers.
“It’s fun,” it entertains people,” said this resident.

Ms. Nadeau shares that the company plans to acquire three of these robots, but “the future will tell us if we aim for more than that,” she adds with a smile.
