“The Equalizer 3,” announced as the final installment in a surprisingly successful series, has exceeded all expectations and is expected to finish the weekend with $35 million in sales over the traditional three days, a figure that is due to the long laboratory Day weekend could rise to $43 million.

Each film in this trilogy was directed by Antoine Fuqua, best known for his work with Denzel Washington in Training Day. The first film, “The Equalizer,” released nearly a decade ago in 2014, grossed $101 million in the U.S. and $192 million worldwide. “The Equalizer 2” was released four years later and grossed about the same amount: $102 million in the U.S. and $190 million worldwide.
