A sex offender targets single mothers with a little girl

An Oregon sex offender allegedly used social media to target single mothers with young daughters with the aim of sexually abusing them both.

According to the New York Post, Antonio Arredondo faces multiple rape charges in connection with two separate cases. The 37-year-old is also suspect in two other cases, the authorities said.

Antonio Arredondo is said to have used Facebook to establish initial contact with his victims. He presented himself as a romantic man to gain the trust of single mothers.

“Arredondo is eventually invited to the victim’s home and, within a short time, sexually assaults the mother and/or daughter,” the Washington County Sheriff’s Office said in a release.

He was charged on August 2 with three counts of first-degree rape, two counts of first-degree sodomy and three counts of first-degree sexual assault in connection with Tigard Police investigations.

The man also faced another charge of first-degree sexual assault Monday, in a case alleged to have taken place in Washington County.

Antonio Arredondo is a registered sex offender in Texas for a similar crime. Investigators assume that he had other victims in the western United States.

The accused remained detained for the duration of the trial.
