“Today the region is like a powder keg… I want to warn the United States and the Israeli puppet regime that if they do not immediately put an end to the crimes against humanity and genocide in Gaza, anything is possible at any time, anywhere in the region would get out of control,” Mr Amir-Abdollahian said during a statement with his South African counterpart Naledi Pandor in Tehran.

The international community fears that the war between Hamas and Israel, which began on October 7, will spill over and that the Lebanese Hezbollah, an ally of the Iranian-backed Palestinian Islamist movement Hamas, will become more involved in particular.
The United States has announced an increase in military assets in the region to prevent a widespread conflagration.
Mr. Amir-Habdollahian warned that “any miscalculation in the continuation of the conflict, genocide, massacre and forced migration of the residents of Gaza and the West Bank can have serious consequences” for the region and “against the interests of the aggressor countries.”
For her part, Ms. Pandor called on the international community to “pay much more attention” to the fate of the Palestinians in the context of the “shameful attack” on Gaza.
According to Israeli authorities, more than 1,400 people were killed in Israel on the day of Hamas’ attack in Israel on October 7, most of them civilians shot, burned alive or mutilated.

At least 4,651 Palestinians, mostly civilians, have been killed in incessant bombings by the Israeli army in the Gaza Strip, according to the Hamas Health Ministry, which controls Palestinian territory.
Iran welcomed the Hamas attack but clarified that it was not involved.
