A low-pressure system will hit the province Wednesday night and bring snow to southern and southwestern Quebec through Thursday night.

A total of about 15 cm of snow is forecast for the greater Montreal area. “The further south we go, towards the American border, the more we get about eight inches. Ottawa-Gatineau, Montreal, Montérégie, Estrie, Centre-du-Québec, Saint-Hyacinthe, Drummondville, Beauce… The further north we go, the less we’ll have,” said André Cantin, weather forecaster for Environment Canada at agency QMI .

This precipitation will be accompanied by north-easterly winds that can reach between 30 and 50 km/h, which will make Thursday morning’s road conditions particularly difficult.

“There is a very good chance that the snow will last [notamment en raison des températures plus froide]. We might even start other snowfalls next week, Monday or Tuesday,” added Mr. Cantin.

One thing is for sure, “we can schedule a spring break where we can take advantage of the wintry conditions.”

Between 15 and 20 cm: Ottawa-Gatineau, Montreal, Montérégie, Estrie, Centre-du-Québec, Saint-Hyacinthe, Drummondville, Beauce.
