Two Porsche 911 Sport Classic
Porsche is a master at making unique versions of its models and with the 911 each becomes an instant collector’s item. This is also the case with the second of the four collector’s items that Porsche is presenting as part of its heritage design strategy. A total of 1,250 examples of the 911 Sport Classic will be offered, bringing the style of the 1960s and early 1970s to life in a special way.
Like its immediate predecessor, the 911 Sport Classic (997 generation) presented in 2009, the appearance of this new model is based on the original 911 (1964 – 1973), in particular the 911 Carrera RS 2.7 from 1972.
The 911 Sport Classic can be ordered now. Its price is currently communicated by Porsche as 272,714 euros.
Delivery to European Porsche Centers is possible from July 2022. It will follow shortly for Canada and other markets.
“Heritage Design models represent the most emotional concepts in Porsche’s product strategy,” says Alexander Fabig, Head of Personalization and Classic Model. “In this unique approach, the Porsche design department works with Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur to reinterpret typical and iconic 911 models and trim from the 1950s to the 1980s, bringing design cues from those decades to life. »

Porsche 911 Sport Classic, from above
Porsche is launching four limited-edition models over a longer period of time. The first of these was presented in 2020: the 911 Targa 4S Heritage Design Edition with design elements from the 1950s and 1960s.
The wider body of the Sport Classic is usually reserved for the turbo variants of the 911 and reveals what lurks at the rear. It adds to the magic this edition offers. The fixed rear wing is reminiscent of that of the legendary Carrera RS 2.7.
When it came to the paintwork, we were simply inspired by the Fashion Gray color of the first Porsche 356. “The new 911 Sport Classic is the first vehicle with the paintwork in sport gray metallic,” explains Michael Mauer, Style at Porsche. “Gray is never boring and often makes a statement that is always cool.” The new 911 Sport Classic is also available in solid black, agate gray metallic or gentian blue metallic. Double-painted stripes on the bonnet, roof and rear spoiler in Light Sport Gray underline the vehicle’s sporty design.

Other elements emphasize the model’s unique character, including the presence of a third pedal inside. Yes, this classic Porsche has a manual gearbox. Of course, the 3.7-liter 6-cylinder turbo is also retained, but the all-wheel drive configuration is omitted for propulsion.
It gets even more interesting.
Power is down a bit for the marriage with the seven-speed manual, but we’re still talking about a car that’ll offer 543 hp and 442 lb-ft of torque.
For an even more emotional sound experience, the standard sports exhaust system is specially tuned to this model.
The chassis based on the 911 Turbo and 911 GTS models meets high performance standards: Thanks to the Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) system, which is also available as standard, its shock absorbers react to dynamic changes in vehicle speed. PASM is equipped as standard with the sports suspension, which is characterized by a lowering of 10 millimeters.
We think some owners will really enjoy driving this collector’s item.
