Third secondary school teacher at the Collège Trinité in Saint-Bruno-de-Montarville, Gilles Croteau, was arrested on charges of computer unlocking, incitement to sexual intercourse and production of child pornography.
A search took place at the school.
Police are not confirming at this time if one or more students are among this man’s victims.
The school says it is monitoring the situation with Longueuil Police on an hourly basis.
In a note to parents, the school states that “as soon as we were informed of the alleged acts, the teacher was immediately suspended indefinitely without pay.”
“Moreover, the latter must remain outside the college and avoid any contact with minors,” we add.
Management also asks parents to pay particular attention to what their children might say about this teacher.
A support network has been set up internally.
This week, a full-scale Sûreté du Québec police operation was conducted in conjunction with several city police departments, resulting in 31 child pornography-related arrests, including that of Mr. Croteau.
