A teenager was found lifeless on Tuesday at the Le Phénix adult education center on the Route de l'Église in the Sainte-Foy sector.
The sad incident required a major police operation lasting several hours.
The SPVQ had only confirmed an intervention on a young person with a “disturbed mental state”.
The victim was reportedly found unresponsive in a bathroom. The exact circumstances were not disclosed. There are no criminal consequences in this case and the safety of other people on site was in no way endangered.
The place particularly offers literacy courses, socio-professional integration and French courses.
“We were told what happened. It is sad. “He wasn’t feeling well,” commented a young man as he left the scene.
At the request of the staff, only a few students wanted to speak at the exit. Everything went peacefully. Communications officers were on scene.
“It is with great sadness that we learned this afternoon of the death of a student who attended the youth section of our center. “Our thoughts are with the family members affected by the incident and we express our sincere condolences to them,” director Joël Garneau said in a statement sent earlier this evening.
An assistance service is also offered. “In these troubling circumstances, we are committed to caring for the students and staff affected by this event. For those who feel the need, support will be offered in the coming days,” the short press release said.
