Los Angeles | We heard some cheers from the Canadian’s locker room after the win against the San Jose Sharks. It was like the players had just won a playoff game, they were so happy.

After the Canadian coaches left, we heard Tom Petty’s famous song “I Won’t Back Down”. It’s always the one who plays at full throttle after every win since the start of the season.
Something interesting is going on in this locker room. Even though the Canadian is 25th overall in the NHL, the mood is far from negative, as can be seen elsewhere. But on the contrary.
A matter of pride
The majority of veterans show their full potential. The development curve for young players is rising.
Then those looking for a contract for next year tear their hearts out at work. It’s perfect given the circumstances.
“The boys are proud,” said Martin St-Louis. In the minutes after a defeat you’re disappointed and that’s normal. We don’t go too deep on the emotional level.
“The next day we come back full of enthusiasm. It helps us move on and manage our days. If we win we will be very happy.”
After that sentence, the Canadian’s head coach sketched a big smile that said a lot. He’s always been a winner.
Even if he has a team with a dozen injuries, he will do whatever it takes to ensure his team wins the most games.
A brutal blow to Matheson?
In the third period of the 3-1 win against the Sharks, Michael Matheson was the victim of a sneak hit by Michael Eyssimont.
The Sharks forward checked behind the Canadian’s head. Shaken, Matheson stayed on the ice for a few seconds before retiring to his team’s bench.
No penalties were awarded after Eyssimont’s shot. During the game, officials Ghislain Hébert and Beau Halkidis allowed several offenses to occur.
We’d be surprised if Eyssimont were suspended even if his gesture were malicious.
