A tourist has reported the theft of a watch worth €800,000 on a Barcelona street. The incidents happened yesterday, Tuesday, in the Ciutat Vella district, when a group of men forcibly removed the watch, according to the complainant, who produced the invoice and the item’s serial number. Police sources say it is possible that the most expensive stolen watch in the Catalan capital is the gold Bing Bang model made by the prestigious Swiss company Hublot.

Barcelona are preparing for a complicated summer, with a crime rate close to pre-pandemic. “We meet regularly with tour operators so that they don’t have complexes with their customers, and we are stepping up prevention advice against robberies and thefts that may occur in our city this summer.” The deputy mayor for safety and prevention in the Barcelona city council, Albert Batlle, was so consistent last week when he presented the mission for the hot months.
The Urban Guard believes that as tourism increases, so will thefts, to levels close to pre-pandemic levels. In the summer of 2019, 360 thefts were registered per day. The numbers are growing in Barcelona with an average of 220 per day.
