A power failure interrupted the premiere of the musical To hate, Last night, at the heart of the second act of the show, the St-Denis Theater was plunged into darkness for about fifteen minutes.
“Give us three minutes, we’ll call Hydro-Québec and find out more,” announced director Serge Denoncourt, clearly worried, before dropping a comfortable “c*lisse de t*barnak”.
At first there were misunderstandings in the hall, and viewers wondered if the evening’s program would be cut from its peak.

That’s what we feared as the troupe capitulated and sang “Let the Sunshine In” a cappella as an encore to an audience they lit up with smartphones waving in the air.

Only when the theater emptied its audience was the power restored, causing an audible sigh of relief from the 2,200 or so spectators.
So the troupe was able to complete the program of the evening after a forced break of about twenty minutes.
