The first two episodes of the historical spy series IXE-13 and the race for uranium will arrive at Club illico on February 15th.
While waiting to discover the plot starring Marc-André Grondin in the role of Canadian spy Jean Thibault, also known as IXE-13, the platform unveiled the official trailer on Thursday. And it's honestly promising.

The complex plot, interwoven with manipulation, lies, secrets and betrayal, is very exciting if you believe both the first images and the synopsis. The enthusiasm is the same for the distribution, the direction, the photography, the hairstyles, the costumes and the sets.

This new fiction is signed by Gilles Desjardins (Les pays d'en Haut, Mensonges) and directed by Yan Lanouette Turgeon (Aller simple, Portrait-robot).
A solid distribution
In addition to Marc-André Grondin, IXE-13 stars Hugolin Chevrette, Marianne Fortier, Julie Le Breton and Vincent Leclerc, as well as Victoria Diamond, Martin Dubreuil, Patrick Emmanuel Abellard, Pier-Gabriel Lajoie, Maxime Mailloux, Sylvain Marcel, Catherine Paquin-Béchard, Daniel Parent, Madeleine Péloquin and David Savard.

IXE-13 is based on the short novels by Pierre Daigneault alias Pierre Saurel from 1947 and 1966. The spy Jean Thibault shaped an entire generation and was even the subject of a comedy film – the series is dramatic – directed by Jacques Godbout.

Here's the synopsis of the production that has our mouths watering:
In Montreal, 1945, a few months after the end of the Second World War, Jean Thibault alias IXE-13 (Marc-André Grondin), the best agent of the Canadian secret services, is now the respected owner of the Crystal Club, in the red light, and an old hotel above the club that once belonged to the mafia.

As he recovers from his difficult years of service, Jean finds himself at the center of a new espionage operation. On the one hand, the Russians are looking for uranium to make a bomb that threatens the West. On the other hand, a powerful Nazi group led by Rick Gallaher (Martin Dubreuil), a former Canadian soldier, is also looking for uranium to conquer the world.
When an attack occurs on one of his own, Jean has no choice but to return to duty, despite the wounds of war that still haunt him. His spy acolytes Roxane Racicot (Julie Le Breton), now a secretary at the Foreign Ministry, Marius Lamouche (Hugolin Chevrette), owner of a boxing club near the Crystal, and Colonel Victor Laporte (Vincent Leclerc), head of counterintelligence, agree to to assist him in this dangerous mission: to infiltrate and dismantle these networks before the uranium falls into the hands of these conspirators.

The cultural journalist Gisèle Tuboeuf (Marianne Fortier), who works for the Gazette des Vedettes under the pseudonym Gérard Tuboeuf, is drawn into this story.
The first season of IXE-13 and the Race for Uranium was produced by Sphere Media in collaboration with Quebecor Content and consists of eight episodes. The first two will be available on Club illico on Thursday, February 15th. Two more are added to the Videotron platform every Thursday.
