The daily Untenable focuses for the first time on a serial killer, played by the talented Stéphane Demers.
Daniel Raynauld, whom authorities call the “Western Killer,” attacks wealthy women. The police don't know his identity, but the Indefensible faithful will quickly get to know this community-dwelling security guard.

At first glance, he looks like a normal citizen, except for the tattoos on his fingers. “He goes unnoticed, which makes him extremely dangerous,” noted Stéphane Demers in an interview, revealing that his character is inspired by Agostinho Ferreira, the notorious murderer of Laurier Avenue in Montreal.
Raynauld is a sadist who enjoys making his victims suffer. The character is inhabited by a deep hatred of women. Could this insane rage come from his own mother, like many serial killers?
Described by his interpreter as an “invisible bomb,” Raynauld smokes crack, which heightens his darker instincts and makes him even more unpredictable. In rare cases, he can survive and function without his medication, which only affects a small percentage of “free base” users.

Stéphane Demers is terribly convincing in this psychopathic role. The 57-year-old actor shines with a strong and complex score. In this case, Raynauld's violence is “frontal,” the likes of which we have rarely seen from a serial killer in a local television production.
And what about Noémie Yelle (who we don't see often enough) in the role of Évelyne Cardin, one of the serial killer's victims? Terror, suffering and distress can be seen in his eyes, filmed in close-ups. Loyal followers of “Indefensible” will get goosebumps when they see the 40-year-old portfolio manager helpless before her tormentor.
“We were able to lean on each other and got along really well. “Our work depended on the trust that we could give each other,” confided the actor, who did not know his playmate before playing particularly difficult scenes with her.

We officially meet Raynauld in Tuesday's episode following the murder of a forty-something beautician, a crime investigated by Sergeant St-Gelais (Marilou Morin). As with other victims before, the body bears a signature and the crime reveals the same modus operandi. After this murder, Raynauld attacks Cardin as he leaves a sports center.
Far from defending Raynauld, how could we? –, Stéphane Demers tried to understand it anyway. Nuances are important, he says, reminding us that character has many dimensions.
“Just because someone commits absolutely horrific acts that strike us as divorced from all of humanity does not make them a different animal species. He is certainly someone who commits monstrous acts, but when we look inside him we can understand the mechanisms.”
Stéphane Demers also stars in the first two seasons of the series “Lac-Noir”, available from Club illico. We see him here with his playmate Mélissa Désormeaux-Poulin. PHOTO PROVIDED BY CLUB ILLICO
Otherwise, Stéphane Demers can also be seen in the two seasons of the series Lac-Noir, which is available on Club illico. He'll soon be seen in the second season of the hard-hitting series After the Flood and we'll see him in cinemas in We Are Zombies.

Conclusion of the trial against Liam Bérubé
This Tuesday we will find out the verdict in the trial of trans man Liam Bérubé (Guillaume Rodrigue), who is accused of killing his mother.

During the trial, Crown prosecutor Claude Duguay (Paul Doucet) called him Vanessa, his birth name, even though Liam had already undergone gender reassignment surgery for several years. This situation displeased Judge Lamy (Jacques L'Heureux).
At the same time, we are following the trial of Jérémy Martel (Lucien Ratio), the man who has increased the number of sexual assaults since we met in the first season of the daily. This time DNA evidence works against him, but it's the threats from his fellow inmates in prison that worry him.
The testimony of his new alleged victim, Amina Hamadou (Marie-Madeleine Sarr), is moving as she speaks directly to Martel in Wednesday's episode.
