A wild turkey takes the bus on the island of Montreal

Far from his partner in Louiseville who preyed on residents, a wild turkey has been causing a stir on TikTok since Thursday after boarding a Société de transport de Montréal (STM) bus in Baie-D'Urfé, in the Montreal metropolitan area .

According to a video shared on TikTok on Thursday evening, the bird was filmed last year at the entrance to the bus very close to the terminal to validate its ticket.

“You can’t stay there!” the bus driver said with a laugh.

According to the information in the comments of the post, the turkey had boarded bus number 219.

The animal only stayed in the vehicle for “three or four minutes” before finally getting out on its own.

At the request of the QMI agency, the STM authenticated the event, stating that it dates back to March 2023.

A common situation?

According to the Montreal transport company, it is not that common for a wild animal to ride aboard one of its transport vehicles.

“Such a situation rarely occurs. “A few years ago, a fox entered the subway network and wandered through the tunnel for a short time before being caught,” explained Amélie Régis, corporate communications consultant at STM.
