The Mirabel fire brigade was called to the scene to extricate the victims from the vehicles before they were taken to a hospital center, where she succumbed to her injuries, according to the Sûreté du Québec (SQ), the SQ spokesman said, specifying that that the two drivers had suffered serious injuries that did not endanger their lives.
The offending driver, a 40-year-old, remains hospitalized but will be seen later by SQ investigators if his medical condition allows, the SQ said, adding that the A-50 was locked in two directions throughout the night .
An SQ reconstructor was dispatched to the crime scene to analyze the scene, protected by a security perimeter, in an attempt to determine the exact circumstances of this deadly collision, although alcohol and speed seem unlikely at first glance.
