Lola said: “I have a lot of hair and it may seem like a dream to some people, but it is problematic for me. I take my thinning scissors and go crazy, I’m never afraid to remove too much.

She said she was happy to be a defender of the style, even though trolls accused her of lying or said she looked “disgusting”.

The software engineer added: “I received several messages from girls telling me that they also have a lot of hair and after seeing my video, they will get a haircut.

So I just keep sharing how I do my own trimming, how I thin my hair, how I style and even how I dye it.

“I’ve never met anyone with as much hair as me, and now they’ve found me at TikTok.”

As a child, Lola remembered crying when she had to untangle her hair before school.

“I will complain to my mother,” she said. “She would suggest that shortening my hair would be less painful, but I didn’t want to cut my long hair like a princess when I was seven.”

Although she was always told that she had unusually thick hair, it only really dawned on her when she tried to dye her own hair at the age of 15.

“I used hair dye at the drugstore and needed three and a half boxes to cover all my hair,” she recalls.

She said she was still struggling to find a hairdresser who knew how to handle her thick locks, so she started cutting them herself when she was a teenager and never stopped. In the last two years, she has only seen a professional three times to make a more radical hairstyle.

Lola said: “They cut her hair, as they usually do with ordinary hair, and in the end I stay with a lot of volume and look like Dora the Explorer.

“Every time I go to a new salon, they add a note to my file that my haircut takes longer, so next time they reserve two hours instead of one hour for my haircut.”

Lola first experimented with a haircut when she was 17.

She said: “I could have a girlfriend with her, we talked about how insane the amount of hair on my head is.

“She asked if she could do a pruning with her brother’s clippers. I liked it a lot, but a boy from school asked me for permission to touch my pruning and told me I felt like a boy’s head. At 17, I was ashamed and let him grow up again.

Lola does not get a haircut again until she is 26 years old.

She said: “My life is much better with pruning, my head feels lighter. I love my haircut, I love being able to do two different hairstyles at the same time. I get a lot of comments on TikTok that I’m crazy for shaving my head and that I’ll be sorry when I want my hair to grow back. Well, I was there, do it! ‘

She shaves the pruning every two or three weeks, which takes about 40 minutes, and thins it only twice a year.

Lola said: “Thinning my hair removes a lot of weight, but also adds a lot of volume, so I only do it when I can no longer stand the tail without a headache.”

She gets a headache every time she tries to tuck her hair in a ponytail or other hairstyle because her hair is so heavy.

Lola said: “The headache starts with a scalp pain, then the scalp pain turns into a headache. It’s annoying because my hair is also hot, it warms me up in the winter, but it can be a challenge in the summer. Either it’s a ponytail plus a headache, or I don’t style my hair and sweat around my neck all day.

Lola also says that maintaining that much hair also costs her up to $ 100 a month in products. Even when she is only shoulder-length, she has to buy two cans of hair dye to color her hair, and requires more shampoo and conditioner to keep it clean.

She said: “I need extremely large rubber bands, and my rubber bands often break. When you have as much hair as I do, you can’t afford to have unhealthy hair: dry hair has more volume, oily hair feels heavier, damaged hair breaks easily and becomes curly. I need to change my hair routine, the products I use and even my diet; I think I already have healthy hair.

When people see Lola’s thick dark hair, they tell her she’s lucky or wonder how she can function with so much weight on her hair.

She said: “What my partners notice is the unusual amount of hair I throw away every day. There is hair everywhere in my house!

In December, Lola made a video for TikTok in which she did a hair thinning session and it went viral, garnering 46 million views.

While many commentators were amazed by her unusual hair, trolls accused her of lying about her hair or trimming it.

“A lot of people said, ‘You’re shaving your head because your father left you’ – I take it very seriously, it doesn’t make sense to me at all,” she said. “If you don’t have thick, heavy hair, it can be difficult to understand that hair can actually cause headaches.

“For every negative comment, I get three positive ones. I especially like to see comments that say “this is so related to me” or “I have the same problem”. Some people like my content and others hate it, it makes me feel contradictory! ‘

She wants to be transparent about her hair and the problems it brings, but also to be an advocate of haircuts for women.

She said: “I gave up pruning because someone told me I felt like a boy’s head – I had a solution to my problem and I didn’t do it because I felt insecure, I wanted to be beautiful.

“But my pruning has never made me less beautiful, and it took me a long time to figure it out.”
