VARIOUS FACTS. On Sunday morning around 10 a.m., a woman was hit by a train at the Simpson 3rd Range intersection in Saint-Cyrille-de-Wendover.

According to the Sûreté du Québec (SQ), the victim was trying to cross the railway crossing when the locomotive hit him. The emergency services were quickly called. When they arrived at the scene, they found the woman dead.

A man who apparently accompanied him was taken to hospital for treatment for shock.

A woman who lived near the railway line told L’Express that shortly before the tragic accident she heard the passenger train whistle several times and for long seconds. The locomotive also stops at the downtown Drummondville train station.

“I knew something unusual was happening because the train hasn’t whistled when it passes here for a long time,” she said, as a road sign indicated there was no whistle.

Simpson 3rd is closed to traffic due to the event. Detours via Chemin Hemming or 4e rang de Simpson are possible.
