Aaron Carter’s fiancee, Melanie Martin, has regained full custody of their 1-year-old son Prince, who she shared with the late singer.
A representative for Martin, 30, told TMZ the decision was made after a court hearing Thursday in Los Angeles. The Instagram model was in New York when the decision was made but was contacted by her legal team with the news.
According to Martin’s rep, she is on her way to California to pick up her son and is “extremely happy and anxious” to see him.
Prince was placed in the care of Martin’s mother after the former couple lost custody, reportedly over drug abuse and domestic violence concerns.

“I honor Aaron today and I know he would be so proud of me,” Martin told TMZ. “I’m very emotional and think we could have been family, but Aaron would be so happy to know I got him back.”
The former child star’s mother, Jane Carter, told the outlet that she was pleased with the court’s decision to restore Martin custody of Prince.
“The child should be with the mother,” she said.

Earlier this month, Jane told TMZ that while she has yet to meet Prince, she wants him to inherit his father’s entire fortune. She explained that her famous family — including Backstreet Boys singer Nick Carter — “don’t need the money.”
After Aaron was tragically found dead in his bathtub on November 5 at the age of 34, Jane asked her daughter Angel – Aaron’s twin – to petition to serve as custodian of his estate.
Although the “I Want Candy” singer died intestate, his personal property and real estate portfolio – reportedly worth around half a million dollars – would most likely be inherited by his son under California inheritance laws.

Martin, who has been forced to move out of the California home she shared with Aaron, spoke out on the matter last month.
“I don’t want any problems or stress about Aaron’s estate,” Martin told Us Weekly, noting that she “didn’t want any bad blood” with his relatives.
“I just want Prince to be taken care of and Aaron’s legacy to live on… whoever wants to be in Prince’s life can be in Prince’s life.”
