Award-winning screenwriter Aaron Sorkin has left his talent agency CAA because his influential agent Maha Dakhil shared posts about “genocide” in Israel.
Sorkin – the writer behind “The Social Network” and “The West Wing” – moved to rival WME after being represented by Dakhil for six years.
“Maha is not an anti-Semitic, she is simply wrong,” Sorkin said in a statement Wednesday.
“She is a great agent and I am very proud of the work we have done together over the last six years. I look forward to returning to WME.”
CAA declined to comment on Sorkin’s departure.
Syrian-born Dakhil, who represents A-listers Tom Cruise, Madonna, Natalie Portman, Anne Hathaway, Reese Witherspoon and Olivia Wilde, reposted an Instagram Story from an account called Free Palestine earlier this week.
Commenting on Israel’s response to Hamas’s brutal attack on October 7, in which 1,400 men, women, children and the elderly were murdered and over 200 taken hostage, the report said: “You are currently learning who supports genocide.” .”

Dakhil added in her caption, “That’s the right statement for me.”
She then posted a second photo with the words: “What is more heartbreaking than witnessing genocide? I am witnessing the denial that genocide is taking place.”
She later deleted both posts.

Variety reported that she will continue to work with her clients while “investing time in their personal educational process.”
“I made a mistake with a repost on my Instagram story that used hurtful language. Like so many of us, I suffered heartbreak. I am proud to stand on the side of humanity and peace,” Dakhil said in a statement.

I join in my prayers to all of our families… I grieve for everyone who is suffering right now. I continue to grieve for all innocent lives. My mission is peace,” she wrote on her Instagram profile “secretagentm.”
