The containment will be declared from Saturday to Sunday at 9 a.m., the CISSS said in a press release on Saturday.

Great vigilance is also required for all residents of Témiscaming, according to the public body.

The population is asked to stay in their homes with their pets. She is also asked to close the windows and limit air exchange with the outside air, not leave vulnerable people alone and avoid intense physical activity.

Those most at risk for smoking are children, pregnant women, the elderly, people with asthma, people with heart problems, and people with respiratory conditions such as emphysema and chronic bronchitis.

Elsewhere in Abitibi-Témiscamingue, the CISSS recommends avoiding intense physical activity.

The deterioration in air quality is due to a heavy cloud of smoke that erupted at 6 p.m. on Friday, the CISSS explains.
