Abramovich in talks to buy Göztepe

According to Fanatic, negotiations have started between outgoing President Sepil and envoys of the Russian oligarch

After Chelsea were put up for sale due to UK government sanctions over the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Roman Abramovich has no intention of leaving the world of football. According to the Turkish portal Fanatic, the clan of the Russian businessman and the representatives of the outgoing President Mehmet Sepil have actually started negotiations the takeover of the Turkish club Göztepe. The meeting between the parties is expected in the coming days.

Following the UK government’s asset freeze, the tycoon has decided to remove his yachts, true jewels of marine engineering, from Europe. Abramovich’s most famous ship is the Eclipse, which was sighted in Marmaris harbor. The oligarch’s other yacht, My Solaris, on the other hand, is docked in Bodrum, another Turkish city not far from the previous one. The choice of Turkey as a safe haven can be explained by the country’s noncompliance with the European sanctions line propagated against Putin.
