The group walked the path between Pian Geirett and the Scaletta hut, which, according to the Swiss police, does not present any particular difficulties, but is exposed over long distances. On one of them, the boy fell 100 meters. The Scaletta hut is at 2,205 meters at the western entrance to the Greina plain above Campo Blenio.
